Man on mobility scooter fatally stabbed in Clapton

A man on a mobility scooter was fatally stabbed in Clapton, East London, leading to the arrest of two suspects on murder charges.
The incident occurred on Rushmore Road at approximately 15:38 on Wednesday, where responding officers discovered a man suffering from a stab wound. Despite paramedic efforts, the victim, identified as 38-year-old Jade Anthony Barnett, died at the scene.
Simone Barnett, the victim's sister, described him as a "cheerful and caring" individual who was well-known in the community. She noted that her brother had previously lived in Clapton with their mother but had recently moved to Stratford.
Witnesses reported seeing a black and grey mobility scooter at the scene, which was cordoned off by police alongside Overbury Street. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working to clarify the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway stated that the investigation is still in its early stages and thanked local residents for their patience as police continue their inquiries. The two arrested men, aged 28 and 21, remain in custody.
